Overview
The Okavango Delta, where Xugana Island Lodge is situated, is one of Africa’s finest wildlife areas. The Okavango, Moremi Game Reserve and neighboring private reserves create an enormous wildlife sanctuary with some of the most magnificent game viewing in Africa.
Xugana Island Lodge is situated on Xugana Lagoon, a permanent water area allowing year-round water based safari activities. Xugana ("kneel down to drink") is one of Africa’s most unique wildlife and wilderness sanctuary.
Other facilities include an open boma and al fresco dining area facing out over the expanse of pristine water that makes up the permanent Delta. The lounge, bar and dining areas are set back under the fig and leadwood tree canopy in open sided thatched areas. The swimming pool, located amongst the mature gardens in the center of the island is a perfect place to relax.
Enjoy mokoro trips in eco-friendly dugout canoes, combined with Guided walking on islands in the concession. Bird-watching opportunities are outstanding, fishing for bream and tiger fish are offered as activities at the lodge.
Xugana borders the Moremi Game Reserve - a diverse habitat that supports a wide variety of animals, with possible sightings of Wild Dog, Cheetah and Leopard. Other species include Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Hippo, Giraffe, Hyena, Zebra, Kudu, Red Lechwe, Sable and Roan Antelope.
Accommodation:
Xugana Island Lodge comprises of 8 large raised reed and thatch chalets situated on the shaded fringe of the Island, each with a lagoon view through the vegetation. The recently refurbished chalets have twin beds, en-suite facilities, with walk in showers, overhead fans and a private deck.
