Overview
The Northern Tuli Game Reserve (NTGR), a 72 000 hectare unspoiled
wilderness, is located in the easternmost corner of Botswana. Here is a unique,
timeless corner of Africa where nature and culture combine in spectacular
wildlife, breathtaking landscapes and fascinating history.
The lodge is set in spacious gardens along the banks of the Limpopo River
against a backdrop of stunning sandstone outcrops. Accommodation is
provided in 8 cosy suites. A sparkling pool, star-deck and a Culture and Heritage centre are available at the lodge.
Each day brings a new adventure as Tuli offers a truly authentic wildlife
experience.
Game drives and bush walks with exceptional guides, hides tucked away
in the bush (where you can also stay overnight for the ultimate back-to-
nature experience!) and horse rides in the wild. Here roams the largest
elephant population on private land in Africa, together with leopard, cheetah,
wild dog and lion, vast herds of plains game and over 350 bird species.
The echo of ancient cultures resounds at the many sites of archaeological and
spiritual significance, whilst meaningful visits with local communities showcase
contemporary rural Botswana life.
Tuli is a geologist's dream. The rich hues and time-worn faces of the sandstone
cliffs form a striking backdrop to Tuli's wildlife spectacle and human drama.
Tuli is easily accessible from South Africa, and fits in well with a trip
incorporating the Waterberg, Kruger National Park and the World Heritage
site of Mapungubwe. It is also a natural staging post en route to the Kalahari,
Okavango or Chobe, and on to Victoria Falls.
Activities
Game Drives:
Game drives at Tuli are undertaken in open 4x4 safari vehicles. We offer day and night
drives accompanied by a trained ranger. Animals to be seen include, elephant, leopard,
cheetah, wild dog and lion, vast herds of plains game and over 350 bird species.
Walks:
Short walks, day trails, combination drives and walks (please note that guests
must be 12 or over to participate in a bush walk).
Hides:
For the ultimate wilderness experience, guests can opt to dine in the bush and stay
overnight at our comfortable hide, equipped with bathroom and a light to spot nocturnal
wildlife! You can also spend time in the hides with your guide as part of a morning or
afternoon activity, or on your own with just your binoculars, some drinks and snacks for
company.
Day trip to Molema:
A day visit exploring the Western section of the reserve. En route we pass sites of great
historical, cultural and spiritual significance and the geologically fascinating Solomon's
Wall. We also visit a wetland area (great for birding depending on the time of year) and
dam (where enormous herds of elephants are known to drink). We arrive at Molema –
our self-catering camp beautifully located on the banks of the Limpopo, a joint venture
project established with the local community – in time for a leisurely picnic lunch and
rest. We then take a slow game drive back, including the usual stop for sundowners,
and returning to the lodge in time for dinner.
Confluence visit:
A morning trip across the Eastern section of the reserve to the confluence of the
Shashe and Limpopo rivers, a unique and scenic spot where Botswana, South Africa
